Interviewing in film

Must keep the interest
Use multiple shots with different angles
Don’t leave clips up for too long.
Think of angle of view, not mm (medium, wide ,close up, extreme closeup)
Choose a good background
Watch edges of frame
Be professional and tuck away any mic cords
Need to make interviewee look good
Think about focus, use zoom functions on camera and double check
Think about depth of field if you have a busy backgrounds
Avoid panning shots
Setting up for interview:
Think about rule of thirds
If you place the interviewee on the left then they should be facing right etc
Tripod needs to be level with the interviewees face
High camera looking down can shrink the interviewee and make them seem more vulnerable
Set your subject at ease (tell then to ignore camera, stop if they are looking at camera, reshoot first 2 questions if needed, control expectations, tell them what’s happening)
Pre interview, meet them beforehand., explain what it will be like, show questions or plan questions
Use open questions (they need to be able to expand on what they’re saying)
Ask them to say they’re name and spell it on audio so that you don’t spell name wrong
If shooting 2 people, make sure you never cross 180 degrees
