AD5807: Project Proposal

Documentary Prospectives:

For my documentary project i am planning to photograph fans and supporters of sports teams and clubs. I will mainly be focusing on one sport this being football as i already have contacts to shoot with different clubs. I plan on developing this idea by looking in to a number of different photographers who may have shot fans of sports teams of just sport teams and personalities themselves. A project i have found already is "Watching the World Cup" by Jane Stockdale and "Shankly" by Ken Grant which i will look in to in more depth. I will attempt to make my photo project appeal to a wider audience by shooting football

teams of different leagues. This includes local low league teams of just Cheltenham and Cheltenhams own football team. I may also travel to more well known football clubs on match days and take photos of the fans outside of the club before a match.

Costs i will have to consider during my project will be any travel costs. These could be bus fares or train tickets. These costs will help to contribute to the project and the amount spent will vary on match dates and my own availability. I will want to try and limit these costs as much as possible due to being on a budget so i will attempt to get as many photos as possible when at these places and will try mainly stick to my own area. Sticking to my own area will result in me being able to go more frequently and as a result i will be able to build up my confidence to shoot fans of bigger teams.

Problems i may face during the project include travel issues where i may struggle to get to places. Another problem i may face is the smaller crowds at the smaller league games where they may not be wearing stuff such as team shirts and scarfs like they would in higher league teams.
