Thames Log:
The Thames Log is an "ever-changing nature of our relationship to water, from ancient pagan festivities through to the rituals of modern life". Chloe Dewe photographs up and down the River Thames over 5 years and looks in to how different people use this, whether this is just for fishing or religious rituals. What originally sparked the photographers interest in the topic of the river Thames was after completing a project on the Caspian Sea, the Chloe Dewe Mathews was curious on why the river was never 'used' by the population. However, she eventually realised she was wrong, which lead to photography project.
I am looking at this project as it has similar ideas to me where the photographer is looking at how people use the river and i will be looking at how people use a local hill. Instead of looking at people i will be looking at the manmade impact on nature, this includes houses and gates. What i like about her photos is the aesthetic of the different places along the river. For example, one of the photos has a very basic colour palate, whereas another one pf the photos has very bright colours and a lot of green. I wont be keeping the colour in the photos but however as i move around to different locations on the mountain it will be easy to see the difference in the locations.
