John Dvaies is a British photographer who photographs urban and rural landscapes, focusing in on buildings being built showing the human impact of these on the environment. His main focuses for his work are the long-term projects documenting Great Britain and the industrialisation of the country between 1979 and 2005. His work looks in to ideas of the impacts this has had on the agriculture, construction, politics and history. By capturing these photos, he has created an archive of the moments in history, showing the development the country to where it is now.

There is a recurring theme of these photos being in black and white, meaning that the focus is on what is in the photos and taking away the distraction of colours. This helps with the aim of this long term project because rather than looking at the colours of the nature and the impact, you as a viewer end up looking at the impact of what is being built. As said by the Micheal Hoppen Gallery his photos bing black and white "gives the work an impression of permanence and lends the monumental to otherwise banal descriptions of the rural and urban landscape. Taken from an elevated position, these photographs show not an idealized countryside but a middle state, both rural and urban" .

What i like about John Davies photos are the similar ideas to my work that he has in his own work where he is looking at the human impacts of what is being built. I will use similar angles of looking at the landscapes from above showing a wider impact on them on the natural landscape.
