AD5808: Project proposal

In this project we have to look at the impact humans have on the landscape. I have come up with a few ideas which i would like to explore. As i'm not in to landscape photography too much i will look in to all so that i can see which idea works the best for me and i will reflect on any photoshoots i do for both ideas till i start to get an idea of what is working.

Idea 1: Housing Estates

For this idea i plan to take photos of housing estates. I want to look at new housing estates and old house estates. I also would potentially look in to other types of housing such as blocks of flats. For this project i would explore the local area and maybe other areas if i want to expand on the project. Things that may work about this project will be that it will be easy to find housing estates and blocks of flats. A problem i may face is that i will have to make the photos have an obvious difference between them so that they don't look repetitive.

An example of a project that is similar to my idea is a photo project on 60 year old Post War housing estate by Sharon O'Neil. This photo i've chosen to look at is in black and white, similar to how my project will be.

Idea 2: Landscape and infrastructure

For this idea i plan to visit a place of infrastructure where i can look at ruins of what may have been there in the past. I will go this place over the next few months so that you can also begin to see a change in the landscape as we change seasons if there is any noticeable changes. The area i will go to for this project is a local hill to me known as Leckhampton Hill. Things that may work about the project are that the location is easy access. Problems i may face include the weather as the lighting in photos may not be consistent across the project as this will change depending on the day across the different photos.
